What is the two-bucket withdrawal strategy?
Split your retirement corpus into two buckets. A fixed-deposit bucket pays your monthly expenses directly and grows at a steady, predictable rate — it's what protects you from selling investments during a market crash. A market bucket holds the rest and grows (or falls) with the market. When the fixed bucket runs low, it gets topped up from the market bucket, and the cycle repeats. The FIRE Calculator simulates this month by month using 31 years of real Indian market returns.
